The 2008 National Conference and Games will feature 12 sports and games with the introduction of new events: Female basketball, mixed frisbee, and athletics. Below are the details of each event:

- 11 male players per team, 5 substitutes
-25 minutes per half, 5 minutes break
Netball
- 7 female players per team, 4 substitutes
- 15 minutes per half, 3 minutes break
Volleyball
- 6 players per team, male & female, 3 substitutes
- At least 2 female players must be on the court at all times
- Best of 3 sets, 21 points per set
Basketball
- M: 5 players per team, 7 substitutes
- F: 5 players per team, 5 substitutes

-Male: 15 minutes per half, 3 minutes break
-Female: 10 minutes per half, 2 minutes break
Tennis
- Proset

Table Tennis
- Best of 3 sets, 21 points per set

Frisbee

- A minimun of 2 female players must be on field at all times
- 20 minutes per game
Sepak Takraw
- 1 regu each state
- 3 players per team, 2 reserves
- 1 substitution per set
- First to 21 points, 2 sets and a tie- breaker
Futsal
- 5 players per team, 3 substitutes
- 10 minutes per half, 2 minutes break

State representatives:

- 1 player or team per sport except:
- 2 for squash (M & F), futsal (M) & soccer.
- Athletics:
    - 2 per state for 100m, 200m, & 400m; 1 event per person
    - 4 X 100m: 1 team per state, may consist of participants from other track events.

Racket sports (badminton, tennis, table tennis & squash):

- Players are allowed to participate in a maximum of 2 categories. eg: a player playing in the singles         tournament will have to choose to play in either mixed or male/ female doubles.

Competition format:

-  6 or less participants: league system
       Win: 3 points
       Draw: 1 point
       Loss: 0 point
    Points accumulated in a league system will not be contributed towards states' overall points.

- All points accumulated as per the above will contribute to the states' overall points.
- Sports that allow two representatives: If both representatives win medals, points will only be given for the highest position. Medals however will still be awarded to individuals or teams.
    - If a state wins both gold and silver: bronze medallist will be awarded points equivalent to silver, 4th placed     participant will receive bronze points.
    - If a state wins gold and bronze: 4th placed competitor will be awarded points equivalent to bronze, but no     medals will be given.
- Overall champions will be determined by the number of accumulated points. In an event of a draw, the number of gold medals would be the primary determinant, followed by silver and bronze.

Draws
- Team sports: the team with highest goal difference will be declared winner.
- Racket games & track: Team winners will be determined by the number of gold, followed by silver and bronze medals won from all categories.
    - If there is still a draw, states will be awarded the average of 1st & 2nd place points:
          Racket games & track: 7 points
          Squash: 12 points

Injuries
- Game time shall be stopped in the event of injuries.
- Time should be stopped to accommodate the substitution of players and games are to be resumed as soon as the injured has been removed from the playing area.
- All injured players are to be taken care of outside the playing area.
